British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, issued the following statement on March 21.

As of today, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Canada reached 943 and numbers are increasing rapidly. (Source: CTVNews.ca) 

Additionally, a large number of confirmed cases have involved working adults. Yet many of the severe and critical cases involve individuals more than 70 years of age. That is why so many seniors' homes have closed access to visitation.

B.C.’s top doctor says it’s unclear when life will get back to “normal,” as the province deals with more new cases of the novel coronavirus under a provincial state of emergency.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 45 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 231.

A few days ago, the Provincial Medical Officer of Health in Alberta and British Columbia required that only essential visitors be allowed into our communities as a way to protect the most vulnerable and the elderly. Residents have an increased risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death if they contract COVID-19.

British Columbia has declared a public health emergency, as officials announce 83 new cases of the novel coronavirus and three new deaths.

The province has now recorded a total of 186 cases and seven COVID-19 deaths.
