Great Opportunities for Caring People
We hope these weekly updates are helpful. Thank you all for your continued support.
As you may know, Brandt's Creek Mews had a sprinkler system malfunction causing a flood in two neighbourhoods. Which called for temporary relocation of our cherished residents in those neighbourhoods—setting off a stressful situation indeed. But residents, their families and our staff handled the situation incredibly well! A deep bow of appreciation to families who stepped up to support their loved ones and to staff and leadership who collaborated with the Interior Health Authority to manage the event while keeping our residents safe and secure.
Also, our utmost gratitude to Mount Ida Mews for graciously welcoming residents and staff from Brandt's Creek Mews, who are now residing in their community while the flood remediation occurs.
Everyone truly has stepped up! Thanks again! Fingers crossed, the Brandt's Creek neighbourhoods will be back up and running in no time.
BC Covid Update
It’s hard to stay on top of all the current information regarding COVID-19 protection, restrictions, and vaccination effectiveness. However, here is a quick review of some questions and answers reported last week:
Q: Is BC likely to change its current restrictions on gathering when they expire on January 18?
Q: Are vaccinated people getting hospitalized with Omicron?
A: According to “Omicron does chip away at some of the immunity provided by vaccines, but two doses does a lot of heavy lifting in keeping people out of hospitals and intensive care units (ICUs).” Read more about this topic in this CBC report posted on January 11.
Let's all get Boosted!

Who can book:
Anyone over the age of 18, 6 months after you received your second dose.
Why get the Booster:

You will receive an invitation to book a booster dose appointment about 6 months after the date of your second dose. Make sure you are registered with the Get Vaccinated system and your immunization record is up-to-date to get your booking invitation. You will be able to book an appointment at a vaccine clinic or pharmacy. You can do this online or by phone.
Visitor Guidelines
Changes to Rules for Essential & Designated Social Visitors
As shared last week, the Public Health Officer has extended their current visit guidelines. In addition to essential visitors, a single designated social visitor can visit loved ones in Long-Term Care. This is great news for our residents and their families!
Here are a few rules that apply to this change:
Visits are limited to one visitor per resident at a time. Exceptions can be made for end-of-life visits – please speak to your site leadership on this.
Only previously approved essential visitors and one designated social visitor are allowed to visit residents. *If you wish to become an essential visitor, please contact your community to find out the steps required.
When entering, all visitors must be screened, show proof of being fully vaccinated, and follow ALL safe visiting practices and COVID-19 protocols.
All visitors will be Rapid Antigen Screened (RAS) upon entry.
Please note that communities with an exposure or an outbreak may have different visitation restrictions. Contact your community or sign up for email updates to stay informed on the latest information.
There is an outbreak currently at AgeCare Harmony Court. All social visits with Harmony Court Long-Term Care residents remain on hold until the outbreak is lifted. Essential visits are by Medical Health Officer (MHO) approval only.
Our recreation team works hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. We are continuously looking for ways to reduce the risk of transmission while having the least impact on resident well-being. At this time, visitors are not permitted to attend indoor recreations programming, including concerts. We appreciate your understanding.
Please note that communities with an exposure or on outbreak may have different recreation restrictions in effect. Contact your community or
