Preventing Influenza Outbreaks in Communities
Influenza has certainly taken a break while COVID-19 took the front line over the past couple of seasons, with only 290 cases reported to the province since October 2021. That doesn’t mean we can just forget that ‘the flu’ is still an infectious virus that can cause hospitalizations and even death to those that have other underlying health issues.
Did you know you can be contagious with influenza before you even start to show symptoms? To help stop influenza from spreading, it is important to:
Before getting together, it is strongly recommended that Rapid Antigen Test Kits are used to test attendees – especially if they are unvaccinated. Test yourself immediately before gatherings, and if the results are positive and stay home.
Shout Out to the AgeCare Integration Team
At the helm of any organizational expansion project is a team of individuals who understand the importance of effective change management. At AgeCare, this important task falls to our Integration Team.
In March, this dedicated group of leaders demonstrated they have what it takes by facilitating a smooth integration of seven new Alberta Revera long-term sites into the AgeCare family.
“The transition went extremely well as our residents and families didn’t even feel a glitch throughout the transition process,” said Amir Rajani, Director of Integration Team Management. “We want to acknowledge all those who worked very hard to make it happen and celebrate this success.”
The Integration Team was established to support the growth of AgeCare, including acquisitions and the commissioning of new builds. Phase 1 of the Revera project that launched on March 1 was the first challenge for the team, and as of now, this chapter is complete. Phase 2 involves welcoming seven more long-term care sites in British Columbia. With a target date of late June, the team anticipates that the process will be equally harmonious.
“Our goal is to ensure the transitions are as seamless as possible, as these sites become one with AgeCare. Once they are successfully integrated, we turn things over to the operations team and carry on,” said Amir.
Members of AgeCare’s Integration Team include representation from all the major streams of the organization.
Under the guidance of Executives, the transition leadership team includes:
Amir Rajani, Director, Integration and Change Management
Andria Stephens – Clinical
Shannon Sproate – Support Services
Eva Tse – Finance
Joanna Jeon – Legal
Barb Black – Human Resources
Phil Woo – Information Technology
Barb Noad – Communications
With a deep bow of appreciation, we recognize this team and numerous others who have been and continue to be instrumental in helping AgeCare grow and prosper.
