We hope these weekly updates are helpful. Thank you all for your continued support.
We are pleased to inform you that the Public Health Officer has revised their visit guidelines for when a community is on an outbreak.
During an outbreak, unless the local Medical Health Officer (MHO) determines otherwise:
Each resident can have one-to-one visits with their designated social visitor or their pre-approved essential visitors.
There may be one designated social visitor per resident.
To be considered an essential visitor, you must reach out directly to the resident's physician, who will determine if your visit is considered essential. If deemed essential, they will notify us.
Exceptions related to compassionate care such as end-of-life care will be considered.
Visitors must be screened upon entry, provide proof of being fully vaccinated and be rapid-antigen screened.
Visitors must go directly to/from the resident's room - not move around the community - and visit only with their designated resident.
Visitors must wear a medical mask for their entire visit, including while in the resident's room.
Individuals visiting with residents on contact & droplet isolation must wear full PPE for their entire visit.
According to the Public Health Officer (PHO), British Columbia will continue to take a guarded approach to lifting public health measures but will begin with changes to the gatherings and events restrictions next week when the order expires on February 15th.
Also, the PHO has advised that all health care professionals in British Columbia must be vaccinated by March 24, or they will be deregistered by their licensing body.
Please see this vaccine reminder from the BC Centre for Disease Control:
Most people need two doses of vaccine to have effective protection against COVID-19.
Some people with compromised immune systems need three doses to be fully immunized.
Booster doses are recommended for everyone 18 years and older to have the best protection against COVID-19 and the variants of concern.
Vaccine effectiveness against infection may decline over time – especially with the highly transmissible Omicron variant – but they remain the best way to prevent severe illness and death. Additional doses can boost immunity to improve protection and limit spread.
Our housekeeping team is one more AgeCare department that has demonstrated extraordinary endurance during the pandemic.
Jerome Mulrooney, Hospitality Manager AgeCare Seton, says he doesn’t know where AgeCare would be without the rigorous measures taken on by our hard-working housekeepers.
“The extra protocols add to the workload of this team, but you don’t hear them complain; they spring into action, cleaning and disinfecting all the suites and doing all they can to keep everyone safe and healthy.”
Bob Dykes, Regional Food Service and Hospitality Manager AgeCare BC, agrees and says that on a daily basis, he is amazed by the diligence and dedication of these tenacious individuals.
“They show up and often go above and beyond, even when the circumstances might be challenging,” said Robert. “These are people who care very much for the residents. They bring heart and soul to their job.”
Recreation Calendars
Our recreation team works hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. We are continuously looking for ways to reduce the risk of transmission while having the least impact on resident well-being. At this time, visitors are not permitted to attend indoor recreations programming, including concerts. We appreciate your understanding.
Please note that communities with an exposure or on outbreak may have different recreation restrictions in effect. Contact your community or
