As such, we are providing weekly updates to keep you all informed on what is happening in our communities and organization-wide. Celebrating Accreditation Bivalent COVID-19 Booster Now Available in Alberta! Recreation Calendars We're Hiring Download Weekly Update (PDF)   Celebrating Accreditation This was an important week for AgeCare as we wrapped up several months of preparing for Accreditation. Today, we completed the survey process at 15 of our Alberta and British Columbia communities. In the New Year, we will begin the Accreditation process at our Bloom communities in Alberta and BC.   Many of our AgeCare team members have been through Accreditation before and will attest to the fact that this process is rigorous, thorough, and well worth the effort! Every four years, we participate in this comprehensive process of measurement and evaluation as a way of guiding our practices and demonstrating our commitment to quality services, innovation, and person-centred care and service.   During this Accreditation Canada cycle, AgeCare is being assessed based on Long-Term Care, Hospice, Leadership, Medication Management, and Infection Prevention & Control Standards designed by experts in the health care field. Central themes include partnering with residents and families, interprofessional collaboration, quality improvement, and resident and provider safety.   It will take some time to get our results; however, once received, we will share these findings with our residents, families, staff and partners.   At this time we wish to thank all our staff for your unwavering dedication and valuable contribution to the Accreditation process. In celebration today, each AgeCare community participating in Accreditation, will host a BBQ to thank each of you for making a difference in the lives of our residents and families and exemplifying our values of Trust, Respect, Quality and Teamwork each and every day.   We also want to thank residents and families, some of whom also offered input in the accreditation process. Thank you for providing the incentive for us to do our very best to live our values and ensure those who call AgeCare home, experience the highest quality of life and safety. Bivalent COVID-19 Booster Now Available in Alberta! This week the new Bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine approved by Health Canada became available to eligible Albertans who are 18 years and older. The Moderna Spikvax bivalent COVID-19 vaccine triggers a stronger immune response and provides additional protection against both Omicron and the original SARS-CoV-2 virus strain. Albertans who have completed a primary series are eligible for the bivalent vaccine. The recommended interval between doses is a minimum of five months from the last dose or previous infection.   At AgeCare, we strongly encourage all individuals to get all booster doses available to them.   Let’s Do All We Can to Keep Ourselves and our Communities Safe!   Book at: bookvaccine.alberta.ca or call 811.   Recreation Calendars Our recreation team works hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. We are continuously looking for ways to reduce the risk of transmission while having the least impact on our residents’ well-being.   Please note that communities with an exposure or outbreak may have different recreation restrictions. Contact your community or sign up for email updates to stay informed on the latest information. If you are a current resident family member and don’t yet have a username and password to access your loved one’s Activity Pro page, please contact the community directly and ask to speak to the recreation team. They walk you through the steps needed to access the family portal. For our AgeCare communities from Revera, your Activity Pro Family Portal is still available for you to access. You can log in with your usual username and password at online.activitypro.net/users/login/agecare.
