Great Opportunities for Caring People
We hope these weekly updates are helpful. Thank you all for your continued support.
We have received confirmation from the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) through their latest order that continuous masking and all of the visitor guidelines remain in effect.
These precautions remain in place as residents in continuing care and congregate living are uniquely vulnerable to this virus.
Continuous masking will inside the building remains in effect. All staff, volunteers, contractors, and visitors over the age of 2 must wear a medical mask in all indoor areas, including while in the resident’s room.
All designated family/ support persons and social visitors entering our communities will still need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated, complete entry screening, perform hand hygiene, physically distance from those not from their household, and follow all safe visiting practices.
We wish to thank all our families for all they have done in their own lives to minimize risk and for their support through these incredibly challenging two years. We are honoured that your love-one has chosen AgeCare as their home. And we remain committed to doing all we can to support our residents and staff's safety and well-being.
Updates on the Vaccine
Vaccine effectiveness against infection may decline over time – especially with the highly transmissible Omicron variant – but they remain the best way to prevent severe illness and death.
Additional doses can boost immunity to improve protection and limit spread.Fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are now available five months after the third dose for people 18 and older who are severely immunocompromised.
Fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are now available five months after the third dose for people 18 and older who are severely immunocompromised.
Albertans aged five to 11 are now eligible to receive a second dose eight weeks after having their first dose. Bookings can be made by booking online or by calling Health Link at 811.
Getting immunized even after getting the COVID-19 infection is recommended.
There is no mandatory waiting period between having COVID-19 disease and being immunized; however, if you’ve had COVID-19, you must wait until you have completed your required isolation period and are feeling better before getting the vaccine or your next dose.
Our housekeeping team is one more AgeCare department that has demonstrated extraordinary endurance during the pandemic.
Jerome Mulrooney, Hospitality Manager AgeCare Seton, says he doesn’t know where AgeCare would be without the rigorous measures taken on by our hard-working housekeepers.
“The extra protocols add to the workload of this team, but you don’t hear them complain; they spring into action, cleaning and disinfecting all the suites and doing all they can to keep everyone safe and healthy.”
Bob Dykes, Regional Food Service and Hospitality Manager AgeCare BC, agrees and says that on a daily basis, he is amazed by the diligence and dedication of these tenacious individuals.
“They show up and often go above and beyond, even when the circumstances might be challenging,” said Robert. “These are people who care very much for the residents. They bring heart and soul to their job.”
Recreation Calendars
Our recreation team works hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. We are continuously looking for ways to reduce the risk of transmission while having the least impact on our residents’ well-being.
Please note that communities on outbreak may have different recreation restrictions in effect. Contact your community or sign up for email updates to stay informed on the latest information.
