Stage 2 Reopening
Vaccine Progress June72021

As announced earlier by the Government of Alberta, two weeks after 60 percent of Albertans 12+ have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and if hospitalizations decline below 500, Alberta will move to Stage 2 of the reopening plan.

Having met those conditions, Stage 2 is now in effect.

Stage 2 will allow:

  • Outdoor social gatherings – up to 20 people with distancing
  • Indoor recreation and entertainment such as theatres, museums, galleries, libraries, etc. can open at 1/3 of fire code occupancy
  • Funeral services – up to 20 people, indoors and outdoors (receptions permitted outdoors only)
  • Wedding ceremonies – up to 20 people, indoors and outdoors (receptions permitted outdoors only)
  • Places of worship – 1/3 of fire code occupancy
  • Personal and wellness services – resume walk-in service
  • Restaurants – 6 people per table max, indoors or outdoors

Physical distancing and masking requirements remain in place. For a full list of easing of restrictions and for more information, visit the Government of Alberta’s website.

Resident and Family Survey

Did you know that our initiatives are shaped based on your feedback? Starting next week, you’ll have a chance to tell us what we should focus on next.

Watch your inboxes for your email invite to participate in our Resident and Family Survey. The survey will run from June 14th until July 23rd.

Visitation Guidelines

It has been so wonderful to once again see so many visitors to our communities. Thank you to everyone who has booked a visit and followed all of the guidelines – your dedication to keeping our communities safe and COVID-free is very appreciated.

Remember,

  • Continuous masking is required for ALL visitors while inside the community. Masks are not required for children under 2 years of age.
  • All visitors must understand the risk of unknown exposure for themselves and residents and assess health before visits.
  • All visits must be booked in advance and during reception hours to ensure staff can provide a health screening.
  • Visitors must be screened if the visit is inside or you need to enter the building to reach the outdoor visit space.
  • Rapid Antigen Screening is available for visitors at all sites. All visitors are encouraged to be screened for COVID-19 when possible. View RAS Clinic hours.
  • Visitors must follow all safe visiting practices and COVID-19 protocols. Visits may be refused if a visitor is not abiding by their responsibilities.
  • Consider the weather. As we move to warmer days, don’t forget sunscreen for you and your loved ones. Covered outdoor spaces are not possible at many of our communities, so consider bringing an umbrella or hat for visits.

Virtual Visits

To ensure residents and family can stay connected, we continue to offer scheduled virtual visits. Residents and families can book one virtual technology session per week. All virtual visits will continue as long as the site is staffed appropriately and care needs are met.

To book a virtual visit, contact your AgeCare community:

Recreation Programming

Our recreation team is working hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit while reducing the risk of transmission and having the least impact on resident well-being.

At this time, recreation activities will be held in individual neighbourhoods where possible and in larger spaces. This is to ensure that all participants can maintain physical distancing.

Weekly Shout Out

Happy Seniors Week!

Our communities had a blast celebrating residents this week – it was so lovely to come together and connect with one another.

From doughnut drops to petting zoos and themed recreation programs, our communities truly outdid themselves… all while following provincial health guidelines.

We like to celebrate residents year-round, but there was something extra special about honouring this national holiday this year. Thank you to all of our residents – you are at the heart of what we do!
