Vaccination Update

B.C. is moving into Phase II of the COVID-19 Immunization Plan. During this phase approximately 400,000 people will be immunized from March to mid-April, including seniors, Indigenous peoples and people who live and work in independent living.

We are pleased to share that our Independent Living residents at Harmony Court Estate will be vaccinated TOMORROW, March 5th, 2021! All consenting residents will have the opportunity to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We have already seen great success in the vaccine across our communities in British Columbia and Alberta and hope that every resident will consent to be vaccinated. It is only through mass vaccination that we can begin our return to our pre-pandemic lives.

Learn more after care and what to expect following the vaccination.

For those family members not living at Harmony Court, beginning March 8, 2021, seniors aged 80+ and Indigenous peoples aged 65+ can make one call to book their appointment through their local health authority call centre according to a staggered schedule.

This is to avoid long waits and system overload. Immunization clinic locations will be confirmed at time of booking, with vaccinations starting as early as March 15, 2021:

March 8, 2021: Seniors born in or before 1931 (90 years+) and Indigenous people born in or before 1956 (65 years+) may call to book their vaccine appointment;

March 15, 2021: Seniors born in or before 1936 (85 years+) may call to book their vaccine appointment; and

March 22, 2021: Seniors born in or before 1941 (80 years+) may call to book their vaccine appointment.

Recreation & Activities

Our recreation team is working hard to create engaging activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. We are taking a measured, phased approach to recreation activities. Each week we will be reassessing how these are going and make any adjustments that may be required.

In both Harmony Court Estate (Independent Living) and the Care Centre (Long Term Care), we are cohorting residents into groups. They may enjoy the activities with the same residents each time. All cohort recreation programs will involve no touching of each other or shared objects.

During all interactions, staff continue to practice exceptional hand hygiene, wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and are using extreme diligence in enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
